Subject: Your Amazon emails - good news, plus two ways to fix it
Hi Jon,
Good news first: the Amazon emails are NOT being blocked or filtered by
your email server. We checked the mail logs, and every message from Amazon
over the past few weeks - including today - is arriving normally, passing
the spam checks, and being forwarded on to your Gmail (jshailer1@gmail.com).
Because your ezfastautoglass.com address forwards everything to Gmail,
anything that looks "missing" is almost certainly sitting in Gmail's Spam
folder or under the Promotions / Updates tab - not lost. Gmail is stricter
about forwarded mail and sometimes tucks it out of sight.
Here are two ways to fix it. The first takes about two minutes. The second
is a more reliable long-term setup.
==============================================================
OPTION 1 - Find them now and stop Gmail from hiding them (2 min)
==============================================================
1. Open Gmail on a computer (easiest in a web browser).
2. Click the search box at the top, paste this in, and press Enter:
in:anywhere from:(amazon.com OR amazonses.com)
This searches everywhere, including Spam and Trash. You'll most
likely see the Amazon emails sitting there.
3. Also check your Spam folder (left menu - you may have to click "More")
and the Promotions and Updates tabs, to see where they're landing.
4. Create a rule so Amazon always reaches your inbox:
a. Click the gear icon (top right), then "See all settings".
b. Open the "Filters and Blocked Addresses" tab.
c. Click "Create a new filter".
d. In the "From" box, type: amazon.com OR amazonses.com
e. Click "Create filter".
f. Check these two boxes:
- Never send it to Spam
- Categorize as: Primary
g. Click "Create filter" to save.
From now on, Amazon emails will skip spam and go straight to your
main inbox.
==============================================================
OPTION 2 - A more reliable long-term setup (recommended)
==============================================================
Instead of forwarding (which Gmail treats with suspicion), you can have
Gmail pull your ezfastautoglass.com mail directly. It's more reliable and
keeps everything in one place.
In Gmail:
1. Gear icon, then "See all settings", then the "Accounts and Import" tab.
2. Under "Check mail from other accounts", click "Add a mail account".
3. Enter: jon@ezfastautoglass.com and click Next.
4. Choose "Import emails from my other account (POP3)" and click Next.
5. Enter these settings:
Username: jon@ezfastautoglass.com
Password: (we'll send this to you separately and securely)
POP Server: mail.ezfastautoglass.com
Port: 995
- Check "Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail."
- Check "Label incoming messages" (optional, keeps them organized).
6. Click "Add Account".
We'll take care of the email-server side so you don't end up with duplicate
copies, and we'll get you the mailbox password through a secure method (not
regular email). If you'd like to go this route, just let us know and we'll
coordinate a good time.
Either option solves it - Option 1 is the quick fix, Option 2 is the
cleaner long-term setup.
Any questions, just reply or give us a call.
Thanks,
Mike
