# CryoWeave Website Design - Complete Static Site Build

Completed full 6-page static website redesign for CryoWeave client. Progressed from accessibility fixes on existing homepage through bold visual exploration to building and deploying complete static site with distinctive bold-light theme. Removed WordPress installation from dev server.

   - Added skip-to-main-content link
   - Implemented ARIA landmarks (role="banner", role="main", role="contentinfo")
   - Added 3px orange focus indicators with 4px offset
   - Increased minimum text sizes to 14px
   - Verified color contrast ratios

2. **Content Enhancement**
   - Added 3 university researcher testimonials with institutional attribution
   - Created resources section for procurement committees
   - Enhanced CTA with "Greg Schickling, Fabricator & Owner" context

3. **Bold Visual Identity Development**
   - Explored dark theme (rejected by client preference)
   - Created bold-light theme (approved):
     * Orange accent (#ff6b35) replaces generic blue
     * Large confident typography (64px headlines, 48px sections)
     * Giant "60 Days" callout box with 72px numbers
     * Geometric precision with 2-3px borders
     * 4px orange left borders on feature cards
     * IBM Plex Sans + Mono typography system

4. **Complete Static Site Build**
   - Created shared CSS stylesheet (28KB)
   - Built 6 HTML pages:
     * index.html (homepage)
     * about.html ("Why we say yes" story)
     * capabilities.html (4 sections with anchor links)
     * applications.html (astrophysics, quantum, space missions)
     * resources.html (procurement + researcher resources)
     * contact.html (Formspree form + FAQ)
   - Implemented mobile-responsive design with hamburger navigation
   - All pages WCAG 2.1 AA compliant

5. **Deployment & Cleanup**
   - Uploaded complete static site to dev server
   - Created 106MB backup of WordPress installation
   - Removed all WordPress files from dev site
   - Reduced site size from 488KB to 124KB

### Key Decisions Made

1. **Bold-light over dark theme**: Client (Greg) prefers light backgrounds. Maintained bold visual elements (orange accent, large typography, callout box) but used white/light gray backgrounds.

2. **Static HTML over WordPress**: Client doesn't need CMS features. Static site is faster, cleaner, easier to maintain.

3. **Dual audience content strategy**: Added testimonials and resources section to serve both primary audience (researchers) and secondary audience (university administrators/procurement).

4. **IBM Plex typography**: Distinctive but appropriate for technical/academic audience. Plex Sans for body/headings, Plex Mono for technical specs.

### Problems Encountered and Solutions

1. **Problem**: CLI detector failed during impeccable critique
   - **Solution**: Continued with manual design review per protocol (Nielsen heuristics scoring)

2. **Problem**: SCP upload path error - tried `/dev.cryoweave.com/` subdirectory
   - **Solution**: Verified actual path is `/home/cryoweave/public_html/dev/`

3. **Problem**: Dark theme didn't match client preference
   - **Solution**: Created bold-light version with same design elements but light backgrounds
